The vibratory encounters the elemental in Homework, the first collaboration between Italian composer MonoLogue (Marie Rose) and Londoner Matt Atkins.
'Crispy' is how Marie Rose has chosen to describe the album, and it aptly captures the surprising edges and adventurous crunch in its suite of tracks.
Experimental percussionist Atkins has provided a characteristically robust set of textures and rhythms derived from his collection of bells, gongs and rattles on which Marie Rose conducted a series of alchemic experiments. Starting with magnetic tape recordings of Atkins sounds, she has worked with water damage, chemical acids and the physical acts of breaking, stretching and re-joining, to conjur from these fragments seemingly magical moments of transmutation, distortion and decay.
Unabashedly physical and speculative, Homework takes lo-fi improv and tape-based experiments in new and intriguing directions.

Matt Atkins
Matt Atkins is an improvising percussionist and visual artist who uses
electronics, objects and tape loops in his work. He has released music
on labels such as Falt, Rusted Tone Recordings, Midnight Circles,
Invisible City, Whitelab Recs, tsss tapes, Structured Disasters, Coherent
States, Steep Gloss, Kirigirisu, Wabi Sabi Tapes, Complex Holiday,
Dasa Tapes and Tone Burst, among others. Since 2006 he has run his
own label, MRM recordings. In 2020 he began curating and presenting a
show for CAMP radio called Auricular Shelter. He has recently
collaborated with musicians such as Danny Clay, Brigitte Hart, Phil
Maguire, Ivy Nostrum, Costis Drygianakis, Diurnal Burdens, Daniel
J.Gregory, Slow Clinic, Paolo Sanna and Giacomo Salis.
In 2022 he had his first solo exhibition of paintings and drawings,
'Eoliths' at London's Hundred Years Gallery.

MonoLogue
Marie Rose (aka Moon RA aka MonoLogue aka Marie e le Rose and a few more) is a composer, musician and sound designer. Her work moves between soundtracks, sound design for TV series and other sound experiences. She has collaborated with musicians including Philippe Lamy, Porya Hatami, Daniele Principato as well as others on numerous releases and projects. She runs the mixing, mastering and sound design studio Fix In The Mix LABS, and works as musical educator, artistic researcher and therapist.
